Nigerian singer Stanley Omah Didia known popularly as Omah Lay steered clear of potential trouble by opting for a humorous twist.
Rather than inviting a female fan on stage, he jokingly suggested dancing with a male fan.
The incident unfolded as Omah Lay scanned the crowd for a dance partner during his rendition of the hit song “Bend You.”
In a viral video capturing the moment, he can be heard saying, “I want to pick a girl from the crowd.”
However, upon spotting a female fan, he hesitated, “Are you with your boyfriend? I don’t want trouble,” sparking cheers from the audience. In good spirits, he then joked, “Maybe I should pick a boy instead,” before selecting another female fan to join him on stage.
This light-hearted response follows the controversy stirred at his London concert in February 2024, where Omah Lay faced criticism for dancing with a female fan who left her boyfriend’s side to join him onstage.
In response to the backlash, the fan known as Jessiani clarified that her boyfriend had encouraged her to join Omah Lay onstage and that she had purchased the tickets for both of them, debunking misconceptions about her involvement.
