Former President John Dramani Mahama recently shared his unique experience during a recent interview, highlighting his time in Russia.
He emphasized the distinctive dining customs he encountered, noting that before meals, Russians traditionally toast to various family members.
Mahama appreciated this cultural tradition, remarking on the hospitality he experienced throughout his visit.
His trip to Moscow included the launch of the Russian-language translation of his memoir, ‘My First Coup D’état and Other Stories from the Lost Decades of Africa,’ at the Russian Academy of Sciences.
In his own words, he said “Russian way of eating is unique. Before they eat, they toast. I went to a friends house who is a Russian. His table was filled with food, before you eat you are being told to toast. YOu toast to someone’s grandmother, father and the trsdition continues.
“The Russians are good with hospitality” Mahama stated.
