The $16 million stadium by the Goldfields Ghana Foundation is a project to build a new stadium in Tarkwa and Aboso, Ghana.
The stadium will have a capacity of 10,400 spectators and will be the home ground for Medeama SC, a Ghanaian football club that plays in the Premier League.
The stadium is expected to be completed by March 2024
The project is funded by the Goldfields Ghana Foundation, which is the corporate social responsibility arm of Goldfields Ghana, a mining company that operates in the Tarkwa and Damang areas.
The foundation has invested over $13 million in the stadium so far, out of a budgeted $16 million.
The foundation has also provided a $100,000 advertising package for Medeama SC for one year.
The stadium is one of the high-cost projects that the foundation has supported, besides the Tarkwa to Damang asphalted road.
The foundation aims to improve the socio-economic development of the communities in which Goldfields Ghana operates
The stadium will also boost the sports infrastructure and tourism potential of the region
