Two people were killed and one person is in the hospital after a shooting in south Edmonton on Monday at lunchtime.

The police were called to a neighborhood near Cavanagh Boulevard and 30 Avenue SW around lunchtime.

“At this time, there is no need to worry about safety and the police have made sure the area is safe. ” EPS detectives will be in charge of this investigation,” said a spokesperson for EPS in an email to the media at 1:24 pm.

At 9:06 pm, the police confirmed that a 49-year-old man and a 57-year-old man died. A 51-year-old man was seriously hurt and taken to the hospital. The police said they are not looking for any suspects.

Autopsies are set for Tuesday and Wednesday.

The family of a victim has told the media that the person who died was Buta Singh Gill, who owned a company called Gill Built Homes in Edmonton.

At least 50 people came to the place on Monday afternoon. Most of them were part of the group that builds homes in South Asia.

Many people in the group were crying.

‘There is someone with a gun, you need to run. ‘

A woman saw the shooting while she was driving home and told the media what she saw.

Lindsay Hilton said she saw a man wearing construction clothes walking on Cavanagh Boulevard. She said a black Nissan car came out of a construction site, turned around, and hit the man from behind.

“The man in the construction vest had a gun and shot at a car. I got scared and went around the corner. Then I heard two more gunshots. ” She told the news.

Hilton stopped her car and called 911. She feels very upset by what happened.

She said that she cried because she saw something unexpected during the day.

“I thought it was just guys talking at the construction site, but then one of them pulled out a gun and shot someone. It took me a while to realize what had happened. ”

Abby Sieban said to the news that she was walking with her kids in a stroller and heard gunshots.

“We were getting closer to the building site and we heard about three or four loud sounds, like gunshots. ” “I thought it was a nail gun at first because we were at a construction site,” Sieban said.

“Next, we noticed a few of the construction workers running away. ” One person walked up to me and stopped me, saying, “You can’t go that way. ” There is someone with a gun, you should run in the opposite direction.

Former city council member and former police officer Mohinder Banga said he arrived at the scene after he heard that Gill had been killed in the shooting.

“He was really kind and always ready to help anyone who needed it, without expecting anything in return. ” “He said that was his good characteristic. ”

“Clearly, there are many people here who care about us, and the community is very upset at the moment. “
