Two dead, others injured in accident at Damango-Sawla Highway

A devastating accident occurred at the Grupe barrier along the Damango-Sawla Highway on Thursday, May 2, resulting in the loss of two lives and leaving several individuals injured.

The accident involved a Toyota Hiace bearing registration number GC 5766-22.

According to a statement from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), the victims, aged 16 and 65, tragically lost their lives at the scene.

The driver of the vehicle attributed the accident to a burst rear tire, causing the vehicle to somersault before coming to a stop upright.

Prompt response from the Damongo Municipal Fire Command was crucial following a distress call.

The team, led by Leading Fireman Diwura Hafiz and supported by ADO I Kotochi and Municipal Fire Commander ADO I Okumah, arrived swiftly to find the vehicle partially mangled.

Injured passengers were quickly transported to the Sawla Government Hospital for urgent medical attention. Meanwhile, the deceased were respectfully taken to the mortuary pending further investigation into the incident.
