Two workers on a Holland America cruise ship passed away during a “problem” in the ship’s engine room, the cruise company announced.
The unknown crew members died on Friday while the Nieuw Amsterdam ship was in the Bahamas. Holland America confirmed this in a statement.
Officials were told about the accident and they are now looking into what caused it, the cruise company said. The crew members were being given help to talk about their feelings.
“We are very sad about what happened and we are thinking of our team members’ families during this tough time,” said the statement. “The most important thing for the company is to make sure all guests and crew are safe and taken care of. ”
The cruise company did not give any more information about the crew members or say which organization was doing the investigation. The boat left Fort Lauderdale on March 16 for a seven-night journey.
