Prime Minister Justin Trudeau visited the United States to meet with American legislators and discuss his political opponents in Canada. He spoke to a big union in North America and tried to show that his party cares more about workers’ rights than the Conservative party led by Pierre Poilievre.

An important person in the government told CTV News that the prime minister wanted to show how the Trudeau Liberals are different from the Conservative party in his 25-minute speech to the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) delegates.

In his speech focused on workers, Trudeau talked about how unions are important and said that he supports working people.

Trudeau said that some politicians say they support workers, but if you look at what they’ve done in the past, you can see that’s not true.

The Liberals, Conservatives and NDP are all trying to show that they are the best parties for unions before the 2025 election.

Last month, Poilievre gave a speech to workers at a conference in Quebec.

Trudeau and Jagmeet Singh from the NDP also talked at the meeting. The Conservative leader has been traveling around the country for the past two years, trying to show that he is the only leader who knows about the problems that working-class Canadians have been facing during the affordability crisis.

According to the Conservative party’s spokesperson Sebastian Skamski, Pierre Poilievre is the only person who is paying attention to and talking to Canadian workers in their workplaces and union meeting places all across the country.

In Philadelphia, Trudeau tried to show how the Liberals are different from the previous Conservative government. He said his party made it possible for people to get Old Age Security when they are 65 instead of 67 years old.

Furthermore, Trudeau talked about his government’s law against using replacement workers during strikes, but didn’t say that it was agreed upon in 2022 between Singh and Trudeau as part of their deal. The Prime Minister praised another part of the agreement, which is giving federally-regulated workers 10 days of paid sick leave. The workers’ policies were praised by the delegates at the convention.

Ayanna Vanderbilt, a delegate from San Jose, California, said, “I first thought we would move to Canada. ”

Canada wants to make child care cheaper, only $10 per day, in two years. Vanderbilt thinks it would be good to do the same in the US.

“I work in the child care field, where we take care of elderly people and young children who need extra help. These groups are very vulnerable, and it’s important to make the most of what we have to support them in the United States. ” Vanderbilt said that Canada could learn from the efforts it is making.

Prime Minister Trudeau wants Canadian workers to like his pro-union message before the next election.

Skamski said it’s sad that Justin Trudeau has to leave Canada and talk to people in another country who don’t know about his bad performance just to get some applause. “Justin Trudeau has been spending a lot of money and taking a lot of taxes from people. This has made things very hard for Canadian workers. “
