Tragedy struck in Assin Juaso, located in the Assin Fosu Municipality of the Central Region, as a 2-year-old girl lost her life during a severe rainstorm.
The heartbreaking incident unfolded on Monday, March 4, 2024, around 5 p.m., while Kwadwo Kwae and his wife, Adjeley, were working on their farm with their two daughters, including the young victim.
According to emerging details, as heavy rain and strong winds lashed the area, Adjeley went to retrieve her farm equipment, which she had left drying on a log in the field, while carrying her daughter on her back.
Tragically, the minor lost her life instantly in the midst of the storm, while Adjeley sustained severe injuries to her waist.
The local authorities, including the district police in Assin Fosu, promptly responded to the scene, transporting the injured mother to St. Francis Hospital for urgent medical attention.
Meanwhile, the body of the deceased child has been transferred to the morgue.
An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the tragic event has been initiated by the police in hopes of shedding light on the cause of the child’s untimely death.
