The talented singer, Tori Kelly, known for hits like “nobody love” and “should’ve been us,” has been hospitalized due to blood clots around her vital organs.
The incident occurred when she collapsed at a restaurant in downtown Los Angeles on July 23, as reported by TMZ.
Witnesses close to the 30-year-old stated that she felt her heart racing before losing consciousness, prompting her friends to rush her to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.
Upon examination, doctors discovered blood clots in both her legs and lungs, necessitating her care in the intensive care unit (ICU), according to sources cited by TMZ.
This development comes just ahead of the release of her new EP, titled “Tori,” which was scheduled to come out shortly after her hospitalization.
On July 11, Tori Kelly shared a promotional photo of herself in anticipation of the EP, expressing that it is only a glimpse of much more to come.
Remarkably, despite her medical situation, Tori was active on social media on the day of her reported hospitalization.
She posted a photo of feet clad in Nike sneakers, accompanied by a positive message about Jesus’ love.
Tori Kelly’s husband, André Murillo, whom she married in 2018, shared a sunset photo on his Instagram Story later that day, overlooking the downtown L.A. skyline.
As news of her hospitalization surfaced, E! News attempted to reach out to Tori’s representative for a comment but has not received a response yet.
Tori Kelly rose to fame in 2010 after auditioning for the ninth season of American Idol, although she was eliminated before the Top 24 picks.
Undeterred, she released her first EP, “Handmade Songs by Tori Kelly,” on her own record label.
Two years later, she dropped her debut studio album, “Unbreakable Smile,” which earned her a Best New Artist nomination at the 2016 Grammys.
Her second album, “Hiding Place,” won a Grammy for Best Gospel Album in 2019, and she also received the Best Gospel Performance/Song award for the album’s second single, “Never Alone,” at the same ceremony.
