Ghanaian rapper Edem Goget’em has stated in a recent post on X that he should have won the Artiste of the Year slot in the 2015 Ghana Music Awards.
Likening his situation to this year’s Ballon d’Or, which Vinicius Jr. did not win, contrary to the expectations of a lot of people, he alluded in the post that even though he merited the Artiste of the Year award, it went to a different artiste.
“Why #BallondOr come dey behave like the way VGMA take do me 2015 Artist of the Year? This is a heinous crime!! A daylight robbery!! … Vinicius Jr. is the REAL WINNER’? ” he wrote.
In 2015, the nominees for the Artiste of the Year category in the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards were Daddy Lumba, Stonebwoy, Guru, Edem, MzVee, Sarkodie, and Samini.
Stonebwoy, who won the Artiste of the Year slot, said in his speech, “I believe that the other artists are happy I won. Behold how tall we have grown. This is well deserved.”
Stonebwoy, Sarkodie, and Edem, who were the biggest winners on the night, took home three (3) awards each.
Edem’s ‘Koene’ had several nominations, as the remix of his song ‘The One’ also earned him a nomination in the Best Rapper Category.
