Media personality Jon Germain recently shared the story of how his broadcasting career began while he was working in the library department at Choice FM.
In an interview on 3FM’s Lounge, he revealed that his first opportunity to host a radio show came thanks to the legendary presenter, Tommy Annan Forson.
At the time, many were skeptical about giving Jon a chance, considering his position in the library.
However, Tommy Annan Forson saw potential in him and decided to take a chance.
With Tommy’s support, Jon was given the opportunity to host the Drive Time show on Choice FM, which eventually led to him becoming the mid-morning show host.
“Tommy Annan Forson single-handedly because I remember a lot of people [didn’t like the idea]. How’s the guy in the library going to host a show. There are other presenters who have been doing this for a while and if you want to add a new show to the station’s programmes, you can always give that to another pers on and then you want to pick the guy in the library to host a show, people didn’t like that idea.
“But Tommy said he is going to do it and he can do it and months after I was hosting the Drive Time show and I got to host the mid-morning show on Choice FM as well and few years later, I was at Metro TV,” he said on 3FM.
This experience laid the foundation for Jon’s career in broadcasting, and he later transitioned to Metro TV.
