A viral video on social media features a tomato seller highlighting the significant price hike of tomatoes, now costing GHC20.
Previously affordable, the price has doubled, with tomato prices increasing from GHC10 or GHC5 to GHC20.
The seller, who remains unnamed, attributes the steep rise to the challenging economic conditions and high import costs, mentioning it costs GHC85 million to import tomatoes into the country.
A bag of tomatoes now costs GHC8,000, while a basket is sold at GHC1,500. Currently, a bucket is priced at GH200.
Her statement has sparked considerable reactions from netizens.
