Tidal Rave: Black Sherif pauses performance to speak out against illegal mining

Mohammed Ismail Sherif, widely recognised as Black Sherif, has emerged as a prominent voice against the detrimental effects of illegal mining, commonly referred to as galamsey, on Ghana’s water bodies and forest reserves.

At the recent Tidal Rave event held at La Palm Royal Beach Hotel, themed “Catch the Sun,” Black Sherif used his platform to share footage illustrating the severe environmental damage caused by galamsey.

The visuals struck a chord with the enthusiastic crowd, who chanted his name, “Blacko, Blacko,” throughout his performance.

At just 22 years old, Black Sherif joins a growing list of celebrities, including Gyakie and Dr. Likee, who have expressed their disapproval of illegal mining.

Dr. Likee, in particular, has announced that audiences should look forward to his upcoming film tackling the issue of galamsey.

Despite the heavy rain earlier in the day, which delayed the event’s start to 4 p.m., fans flocked to witness the exciting performances and have a great time.

The atmosphere was electric, featuring remarkable sets from artists such as R2Bees, Edem, Kwesi Arthur, Pappy Kojo, and KiDi, each contributing to an unforgettable night.

The event culminated in breathtaking performances by Black Sherif, Stonebwoy, and Sarkodie, leaving the audience in awe.
