Renowned Ghanaian artist, Okyeame Kwame, has proposed that Ghana’s future hinges on the mindset of its youth.
He believes that the entrenched corruption within the current political landscape renders significant change unattainable.
The artist, known as the Rap Doctor, highlighted the pervasive corruption within both major political parties, asserting that attempts to reform the country would likely result in the demise of any president due to the powerful network of corrupt individuals.
“NDC/NPP cannot help Ghana; family is what can help Ghana. The problem affecting us as a people is a problem of the mind.
“The corrupt system cannot fix itself; it makes a lot of people rich and happy. If a president wants to come and fight corruption in the country right now, he will be dead in 2 weeks.
“It’s not about pay; it’s not about money; it’s about morality,” he said.
According to Okyeame Kwame, the key to Ghana’s progress lies not in political affiliations but in the transformation of individual moral values.
He contends that the corrupt system perpetuates wealth and contentment for many, making it resistant to internal reform efforts.
He attributes the root of corruption to the collective mindset of the Ghanaian people, emphasizing the need to instill incorruptibility in the younger generation. Okyeame Kwame advocates for a shift in focus towards nurturing ethical principles in children to counteract the influence of corrupt politicians.
Regarding the existing political leadership, Okyeame Kwame foresees their eventual demise, underscoring the necessity of cultivating selflessness in future generations.
He posits that by prioritizing the moral education of youth, Ghana can pave the way for genuine development and progress.
“The politician was put in power by you and me; they are a representation of us, so if they are corrupt, it shows that you are corrupt.
“I agree that politicians are causing problems, but as you fight the politicians, train your child not to think like a politician.
“My vision is that we train our children to be incorruptible so that they will grow up and do away with this corrupt system. That is the only way I think Ghana would develop. Let us focus on training the young ones now,” he said.
