Barcelona president Joan Laporta has reportedly made significant assurances to convince Xavi to remain as the club’s coach despite financial challenges.

Xavi initially announced his departure after Barcelona’s loss to Villarreal in January but has now decided to stay until at least 2025 after discussions with Laporta and the board.

According to Sport, the talks focused on addressing communication gaps between the coaching staff and administration. Both parties shared their expectations to build a better working relationship.

The club aims to strengthen the squad, especially in midfield and on the left side of attack.

Defensive reinforcements are also needed, with only Joao Cancelo currently available on loan from Manchester City.

Xavi sought assurances about the club’s plans for the transfer window and received positive feedback, despite financial constraints.

The success of planned signings depends on offloading surplus players to ease financial burdens. Barcelona is actively exploring player sales to create room for new acquisitions.

Laporta is also exploring renegotiating the club’s contract with Nike to secure a lucrative deal, aiming for the best sponsorship contract in the market. He hopes to finalize this agreement in the future.

Barcelona’s financial stability is expected to improve with the renegotiation of contracts, helping them meet La Liga’s strict financial rules.

Xavi’s decision to stay provides stability, though their focus is on the next season, given Real Madrid’s strong lead in La Liga. They aim to end the current campaign positively, starting with a match against Valencia on Monday.
