    Ghana international Antoine Semenyo has reacted after scoring in a second successive game for Bristol City in the English FA Cup.

    Semenyo was on target on Sunday when his side shared the spoils with Swansea City.

    The Black Stars striker got the equalising goal for Bristol as they came from behind to draw 1-1 with Swansea at the Ashton Gate Stadium in the third round of the FA Cup.

    Swansea struck first in the match through Joel Piroe who benefitted from a huge defensive mistake to put the visitors ahead in the 15th minute.

    The Black Stars striker put Bristol on level pegging in the 77th minute after getting his head on a cross from Andreas Weimann to find the back of the net.

    In a post sighted by Footballghana.com, the enterprising forward has reacted to scoring in two consecutive games for Bristol City.

    In four short years Antoine Semenyo has gone from playing for sixth-tier Bath City in the Somerset Cup to representing Ghana at the most prestigious tournament in all of sport … how’s that for career development?

    The London-born 22-year-old, who can play both up front and off the flank, only made his debut for the Black Stars in June but squeezed into Otto Addo’s 26-man squad for the World Cup after making a flying start to the season at Championship side Bristol City.

    He was brought on as a second half substitute during Ghana’s 3-2 defeat to Portugal on Thursday as his side went in search of a late equaliser – and got a front row seat for Inaki Williams’ agonising slip in the dying moments.

    Semenyo signed for Bristol City as a 17-year-old in 2017 but after finding first-team minutes hard to come by he was farmed out on loan to National League South side Bath.

    There he got some much-needed game-time under his belt, and with his confidence flowing the goals started doing the same. He scored six in 16 games for the Romans, including a memorable hat-trick in an 8-1 Somerset Cup quarter-final tie against (the mighty) Welton Rovers.

    He then started climbing the ladder, getting loaned to League Two outfit Newport County the following season, and the year after that to League One side Sunderland, before returning to Ashton Gate for the 2020/21 season

    Bristol City manager Nigel Pearson has urged the Ghana FA to be compassionate with game time for recovering Antoine Semenyo‘s involvement in the international friendly double-header against Brazil and Nicaragua this month.

    The City gaffer wants the Ghanaian gaffer Otto Addo to ease him slowly into the team as he yet to recover fully from an injury which has seen him make substitute appearances.

    Pearson fears any rush could further exacerbate the situation of the Ghana striker due to the nature of his injury.

    Semenyo has been called up by the four-time African champions for an international friendly against South American giants Brazil as well as Central American nation Nicaragua.

    The 22-year-old has scored three times in his four appearances from the substitute bench for City since he made an injury return.

    The striker missed out of Bristol City’s pre-season after he underwent a rehabilitation following an injury he picked while on international duty.

     

    He is yet to start a game for following the shin injury he picked up while playing for Ghana in June this year.

    Nigel Pearson has called for the Ghanaian FA to be sympathetic with Antoine Semenyo’s game time during the international break as he continues his road to full fitness from injury.

    And City manager Nigel Pearson has called on the Ghanaian FA to be compassionate with the striker as he continues his road to full fitness.

    “We need to make sure that his recovery continues because the nature of his injury is really important that we are mindful of the amount of exposure,” Pearson said.

    Nigel Pearson has always been hugely supportive of Semenyo’s international exploits, saying he would never stand in the way between the player and representing his country.

    “Hopefully the Ghanaian FA will be sympathetic to our requirements and the player’s requirements because I think Chris (Hughton, Ghana technical advisor) would like him fit for the World Cup and obviously Antoine wants to be available both for us and the national side so common sense should prevail.

    “The World Cup is still a few months away which is continued recovery time so by the time he gets to that point, hopefully, we’re not thinking by the same terms.”

    Ghana will have one more warm-up game against Switzerland in November before their tournament gets underway against Portugal.

    They then play South Korea and Uruguay before determining whether they have progressed into the knockouts.

    Premier League side, AFC Bournemouth have joined the race to sign Ghana striker, Antoine Semenyo this summer.

    The Bristol City striker has been on the radar of several clubs for the past season due to his exploits in the English Championship.

    Crystal Palace have made an offer to sign the young striker in the ongoing summer transfer.

    However, the Cherries are now challenging their Premier League rivals for Semenyo.

    Everton have also been registered with an interest in the 22-year-old Ghana international.

    Semenyo was named in Ghana’s squad for the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations [AFCON] qualifiers against Madagascar and the Central African Republic [CAR].

    He is expected to be named in Black Stars squad for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar later this year.

    Bristol City are said to want £15 million upfront and a total fee of £20 million to allow the highly-rated young forward to leave Ashton Gate this summer.

    Semenyo’s current deal is set to expire in the summer but it is thought the Robins have the option of a one-year extension.

    The Eagles are seeking a replacement for Christian Benteke up front and think Semenyo can fill that role admirably.

    After making an impression in the Championship last season, the club could take a chance on the 22-year-old, who would cost about £12 million.

     



    Palace have been linked with strikers from all over Europe, but a domestic target would be more appropriate for their plans.

    The Premier League club are also looking for loan players, but they prefer to invest in players who have the potential to improve.

    Semenyo scored eight goals and provided 12 assists last season, earning him a debut call-up to the Ghana national team.
