According to her father, the 27-year-old had been pursuing a Master’s degree in the UK and was planning a summer visit to her family’s home in Hyderabad, India.

Despite their best attempts, Ms. Kontham tragically passed away at the scene after emergency personnel arrived at Neeld Crescent just before 10am.

Another woman, aged 28, believed to be her friend, also suffered knife injuries in the attack but are not believed to be life-threatening.

Ms Kontham’s father told a local TV channel in India that she had travelled to London three years ago and was coming back to Hyderabad for her wedding after the course ended this year.

He said ‘She said she will return after her studies were finished. She had resigned from her temporary job.’
