Nana Aba Anamoah has criticized politicians for resorting to superficial tactics, such as performing household chores, to win over voters, calling it manipulative.
She condemned actions like braiding hair, fanning fires, and washing clothes during election campaigns as insincere attempts to gain favor.
Anamoah urged constituents to challenge such politicians by assigning them extensive tasks, even involving the entire neighborhood if necessary, to expose the performative nature of these acts.
“Politicians pretending to care by fanning the fire, washing clothes, etc., for their targets ahead of elections annoys me the most. When they show up like that, give them the entire neighborhood’s chores,” she posted.
Her comments follow a viral video of NDC’s Asokwa parliamentary candidate, Amoh Kamel, participating in similar acts, such as unbraiding constituents’ hair and cooking banku, during a door-to-door campaign.
