Not all in the Black Stars who were friends with Christian Atsu managed to turn their friendship into some greater and deeper.
All but one succeeded in getting closer, becoming family. Mubarak Wakaso and Atsu in 2012 began building their bond in the senior national team.
It was not until 2022, ten years after, that Christian Atsu revealed to the public who Wakaso was to him.
On July 10, Atsu tweeted “there are friends that become family.” He tagged Wakaso in his post, as well as shared pictures they both featured in.

But now, Wakaso is left with just memories that he shared with Christian Atsu. His brother is no more.
Atsu was confirmed dead on Saturday, after being pulled of a debris he was stuck under for 12 days since the devastating earthquake struck Turkey and Ukraine.
It is far-more devastating for Wakaso since he first embraced reports that Atsu had been found.

But with no iota of doubt about his death, Wakaso now has to embrace the painful truth.
Paying tribute to his brother, Wakaso wrote “Rest Well,” while indicating his pained heart with a shattered love emoji. It is believed that he sobbed while saying his goodbye.
Rest well 💔😢😭
