‘Strange sickness’ hit West Ham camp; the cause of their wanton defeat against Fulham?

Mohammed Kudus’ West Ham United encountered a setback prior to their 5-0 defeat against Fulham on Sunday, December 10, 2024, as a sickness bug plagued the team.

In a surprising and humbling turn of events, West Ham faced a shocking defeat against Fulham in a round-of-15 match during the 2023–2024 Premier League season.

Raul Jimenez, Willian, Tosin Adarabioyo, Harry Wilson, and Vinicius all found the target, securing a resounding victory for Fulham.

Post-match, revelations emerged that a peculiar sickness had affected some players and staff at West Ham in the lead-up to the game.

Pablo Fornals, who started the match, was notably among those most impacted by the sickness bug.

Manager David Moyes, along with other first-team squad members, including Edson Alvarez and Emerson Palmieri, experienced feelings of unwellness.

Goalkeeper Alphonse Areola, though absent, was sidelined due to a wrist injury.

Interestingly, Mohammed Kudus, who commenced the game and was substituted in the 64th minute, was not mentioned as one of the players affected by the sickness.

As West Ham looks ahead to their upcoming match against Freiburg in Germany on Thursday, December 14, 2023, Coach David Moyes aims for a full squad recovery.
