The legendary Ghanaian footballer Stephen Appiah is being considered for a role on the Board of Directors of Accra Hearts of Oak.
The club recently announced the dissolution of its board on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, which included prominent figures such as Dr. Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe, Alhaji Akambi, and Vincent Sowah Odotei.
With the old board dissolved, preparations are underway to form a new one during the club’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) in March 2024.
Stephen Appiah, a former player for Hearts of Oak, has emerged as a strong candidate to join the 11-member board, reportedly endorsed by fellow ex-footballers of the club.
The proposed new board will feature 11 members, chaired by Togbe Afede, with Elvis Herman Hesse representing the supporters and a representative from Hearts Ladies.
Togbe Afede will appoint two board members, while the remaining members will be elected by shareholders during the AGM in March 2024.
In other news, Hearts of Oak secured a convincing 3-0 victory over Real Tamale United in the Ghana Premier League over the weekend, propelling them to ninth place in the GPL standings.
