Real Madrid vs Man City: Aguero hits out at Pep’s ‘dreadful’ decision

Pep Guardiola made a ‘baffling’ decision during Manchester City’s Champions League match against Real Madrid, according to Sergio Aguero.

The semi-final matchup between City and the defending champions took place on Tuesday, May 9, at the Santiago Bernabeu.

According to Marca, the European powerhouses agreed to a 1-1 draw in the thrilling match, leaving the tie wide open going into the second leg, which will be played at the Etihad Stadium.

During the first half, the hosts’ Vinicius Jr. scored a stunning goal to start the scoring before Kevin De Bruyne controversially equalised for City in the 66th minute.

Aguero hits out at Pep

Despite the encouraging result, Aguero was less impressed with a tactical decision made by Pep Guardiola during the match.

Sportbible reports that Guardiola did not make a single substitution in the Champions League match, a move that left Aguero baffled.

The City legend slammed his former manager for the decision, insisting his fellow countryman Julian Alvarez should have been given an opportunity to play.

“What I don’t understand is why he didn’t put Julián [Alvarez on]… I wonder, but well it’s Pep. He doesn’t marry anyone,” he said via @City_Xtra.

“If it was up to me, I’d play Julián in almost every game – we need him to be active and have a spark,” he added.

Fans mock Haaland

Earlier, Sports Brief reported a section of fans has taken to social media to mock Erling Haaland for allegedly going missing during Manchester City’s Champions League cracker against Real Madrid.

Haaland was part of City’s squad that settled for a 1-1 draw against the reigning champions in the first leg of the semi-final fixture staged at the Santiago Bernabeu on Tuesday night.

The Norwegian hotshot went into the clash off a fantastic run of form that had seen him score an eyewatering 51 goals across competitions.
