Premier League teams spends whooping £1.95 billion in current transfer window – Deloitte

Premier League teams have splurged a historic £1.95 billion ($2.45 billion) on player acquisitions during the current summer transfer window.

According to analysis from Deloitte, this spending is projected to surpass £2 billion, with a week remaining until the September 1 deadline.

The transfer window, commencing on June 14, has already surpassed last year’s record-breaking figure of £1.92 billion, as reported by Deloitte’s Sports Business Group.

This window has witnessed two transfers surpassing £100 million each: Chelsea’s acquisition of midfielder Moisés Caicedo and Arsenal’s signing of Declan Rice.

This stands in contrast to the previous summer, which saw no such transfers.

Chelsea, which has secured the services of nine players thus far, has spent over $1 billion in transfer fees.

This surge in spending coincides with the new ownership led by Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital, following their takeover of the club in May 2022.
