Low fans turn out as Kotoko resume training after GPL suspension

Asante Kotoko have started training again after the Ghana Premier League was suspended due to the sad death of Francis Frimpong also known as Nana Pooley at Nana Kronmansah Park. Initially, the team said they wouldn’t play until justice was served for Francis.

Now, the team is back to training at Adako Jachie with 19 players practicing under their coach, Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum. However, Samba O’Neil, Wisdom Fernando, Peter Amidu Acquah, Lord Amoah, and Kwesi Asante were present but did not join the training session.

Despite the team’s return to training at the Adako Jachie facility, the turnout of fans was notably low.

Asante Kotoko’s training sessions at the Adako Jachie facility typically attracted a significant number of fans. On average, around 200 to 300 fans would attend these sessions to support the team and watch their favorite players in action.

The recent low turnout is likely due to the ongoing grief and the team’s initial stance of not resuming competitive matches until justice was served for Pooley.

Full List of Players Who Trained:

Goalkeepers: Fredrick Asare, Mohammed Camara
Defenders: Fatao Siedu, Benjamin Twum, Daniel Agyietey, Justice Blay
Midfielders: Josep Ablorh, Baba Yahaya, Emmanuel Antwi, Sampson Eduku, Isaac Mintah, Henry Ansu, Samuel Tenedu, Patrick Asiedu, Ntim Maafo
Forwards: Kwame Poku, Elvis Kyei Baffour, Kyei Dwamena, Michael Sefa

Meanwhile, Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Okraku is set to visit the club’s secretariat in Kumasi on Thursday.
