Dominik Szoboszlai’s impressive first-half goal initiated Liverpool’s victory on Wednesday night, and Jürgen Klopp’s team went on to dominate the game in the second half.
Curtis Jones scored twice, and additional goals from Cody Gakpo and substitute Mohamed Salah secured a decisive win and a place in the last four against Fulham.
Liverpool started strongly, with Szoboszlai attempting the first shot within the first four minutes, but it struck Darwin Nunez. Elliott then narrowly missed the opening goal on 14 minutes, sending his effort wide from the edge of the box.
Szoboszlai’s powerful strike from outside the box found the net on 28 minutes, putting Liverpool ahead. Gakpo nearly doubled the lead just before half-time with a header.
In the second half, Jones scored his first goal of the season, slipping the ball past the goalkeeper from an acute angle. Liverpool made a triple substitution with Salah, Alexander-Arnold, and Konate, and Gakpo added a third goal.
West Ham managed to score with a fine effort from Jarrod Bowen, but Liverpool sealed the victory with goals from Salah and Jones, securing their place in the last four.
