Prominent team in the Ghana Premier League, Asante Kotoko, officially announced on Friday, July 28, that their captain, Richard Boadu, will be departing to join Libyan club Al Ahly Benghazi.
Boadu’s transfer is expected to take place in the coming days, and the fee for the move is believed to be approximately $150,000.
Richard Boadu played a crucial role in leading Kotoko to success in the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League season.
He joined the team in September 2021 and later became the captain for the 2022/23 season after Abdul Ganiu Ismail’s departure.
During the previous season, Boadu made 30 appearances in the Premier League, showcasing his skills and contributing two goals along with five assists.
Before his time with Kotoko, Boadu impressed football fans with his performances at Medeama SC, the reigning Ghanaian champions.
His talents garnered admiration, leading to his move to Asante Kotoko.
Richard Boadu, at 25 years old, began his football journey with Kumasi-based Cornerstone before moving on to Phar Rangers and eventually securing a deal with Medeama in 2018.
