Reports have it that Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) star Kylian Mbappe has already signed a lucrative five-year contract with Real Madrid.
The French captain informed his PSG teammates last week that he will depart the club as a free agent at the end of the 2023–24 season.
Since then, Mbappe has been linked with several clubs, including long-time admirers Real Madrid and Premier League giants Liverpool and Manchester City.
However, Marca reports that Mbappe has reached an agreement with Real Madrid and will be officially unveiled by the club in the summer.
The report states that Real Madrid first contacted Mbappe in early January to gauge his interest in joining them.
After receiving Mbappe’s approval, managing director Jose Angel Sanchez began negotiations with the player and his mother and agent, Fayza Lamari, over a five-year deal.
While Real Madrid reportedly compromised on Mbappe’s image rights, his salary will be significantly lower than what he earned in his last two years in Paris.
Nevertheless, Mbappe is set to become the club’s highest-paid player, with an estimated annual salary ranging from €15m to €20m, plus bonuses based on performance objectives.
It is expected that Real Madrid will introduce Mbappe to their fans sometime in July, possibly between his participation in the Euros and the Paris Olympics with the French national team.
Meanwhile, Mbappe remains focused on PSG, who currently hold a 13-point lead at the top of the Ligue 1 table and are poised to win another title. He will next be in action against Rennes on Sunday.
