Lyon’s manager, Laurent Blanc, has revealed that the club is set to introduce Ghanaian youngster Ernest Nuamah as a new signing by the end of this week.
The 19-year-old is on the verge of finalizing a transfer from Danish giants FC Nordjselland to the French Ligue 1. Reports suggest that his medical examinations were conducted last week, marking a significant step towards his move.
Due to his impending transfer, Nuamah has been absent from three consecutive matches for FC Nordsjaelland. While there has been no official confirmation from the parties involved in the agreement, Blanc has affirmed the deal’s completion. He mentioned that the player is already integrated into the team, awaiting the official announcement.
“He’s already in Lyon. I think [this] week he’ll officially be a Lyon player,” the French manager said when asked about the 19-year-old after the league game against OGC Nice on Sunday evening.
“He is a player that will bring what he’s capable of bringing. He is a player with a lot of power. He is a young player, a very young player, but he also brings us a bit of competition. Bringing competition to every position is a good thing for everyone. The more competition, the better things will be.”
Nuamah’s exceptional performance for his club has garnered him individual accolades, and he has also earned a spot on the 100-player shortlist for the 2023 Golden Boy Award.
His international displays have also left a positive impression, as he represented the Black Meteors in the qualifiers for the 2023 U-23 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) and participated in the main tournament held in Morocco earlier this year.
His remarkable showings have made him a highly sought-after young talent. Notably, clubs such as Paris Saint Germain, Tottenham Hotspur, and Ajax have all expressed interest in securing his services.
