Juventus has announced the signing of Portugal defender Renato Veiga on loan from Chelsea until the end of the current season.
The 21-year-old joins the Serie A club after a tough start at Chelsea, where he only made one Premier League appearance this season.
Veiga had joined Chelsea from FC Basel in July for €14 million on a seven-year contract. He made his debut for the Portuguese national team in October 2023 and has since played in two additional international matches.
At Juventus, Veiga hopes to get more playing time, especially with the club struggling with defensive injuries.
Bremer and Juan Cabal are sidelined with ACL injuries, and Danilo, who had been part of the squad, left the club on Monday after reaching a mutual agreement. Juventus is currently fifth in Serie A, just two points behind Lazio, but significantly behind leaders Napoli.
“Dear Bianconeri, I don’t know where to start. I knew this day would come sooner or later, but one is never ready to say goodbye. I’ve spent five and a half years here, and for me, it became my life,” Danilo said on social media.
“It’s never easy to separate from a true love, from a place that has given me so much, from a shirt that’s brought so many great feelings, from a club whose values align those that I’ve shared throughout my career.”
The former Porto and Real Madrid player joined Juventus from Manchester City in 2019.
