Ghanaian rapper Samuel Adu Frimpong, popularly known as Medikal, has named Asamoah Gyan as his all-time favorite player.
During an interview on the Starr Chat Show with Bola Ray on Accra-based Starr FM on Thursday, May 23, 2024, Medikal praised Gyan, stating, “Asamoah Gyan is my favourite player of all time.”
Gyan, Ghana’s record scorer with 51 goals and the country’s second most-capped player, has recently ventured into politics.
He was announced as part of the governing NPP’s campaign team for the 2024 elections and chairs the party’s sub-committee on Youth and Sports.
The retired footballer, who once revealed that he would have pursued a career in law or music if not for football, has already explored the music industry.
Gyan answered: “A musician or a lawyer, because you never win against me when it comes to arguments. You never win. I always find a way to win.”
Asked if he would consider going to law school, Gyan added: “Maybe. Never say never. Now we’re focusing on the All Regional Games and we want to change the sports fraternity, we want the other generation to benefit from it.”
Gyan released several hit songs with his friend Castro in the early 2010s and believes he would have excelled as a lawyer due to his argumentative skills.
As Gyan focuses on his new role in politics and sports administration, he remains a celebrated figure in Ghanaian sports history, having officially retired in June last year after a career spanning over two decades.
