A 25-year-old man, Richard Manu, also known as Azonto, has been accused of decapitating his father, Kwaku Manu, in Assin Akrofuom, located in the Assin South District of the Central Region. The horrifying act was reportedly triggered by the son’s belief that his father engaged in a spiritual exchange of his prosperous destiny with that of his twin senior brother.
Following the gruesome beheading, Richard allegedly proceeded to inflict cutlass wounds on his mother and other family members present in the house during the shocking incident. An eyewitness, Kojo, recounted waking up to the horrifying scene and attempting to intervene before seeking help.
The suspect was eventually arrested by the police patrol cars, rescuing him from a potential lynching by the enraged community members. Currently undergoing medical treatment at St. Francis Xavier Hospital in Assin Fosu, Richard is closely monitored by the police.
Okyeame Kwame Amankrah, the suspect’s uncle and the Akyeamehene of Assin Akrofuom, expressed shock at the unfolding events, emphasizing the seemingly amicable relationship between the father and son prior to the gruesome incident. Investigations are ongoing to unravel the circumstances surrounding this tragic and spiritually charged act.
