Sack of onions sold for GHC600 a week ago, now selling for GHC1,050 – Reports

Joynews’ market survey data reveals a stark reality as a sack of onions, once priced at GHC600, is now fetching GHC1,050.

The inflation rate is skyrocketing, pushing up the costs of essential goods and services.

For instance, a single tomato is now being sold at GHC5 each, causing concern among Ghanaians who are grappling with the depreciating value of the cedi.

Pepper prices have surged by over 200% in less than a year, with a paint container size now costing GH¢180 compared to an average of GH¢65 previously.

The supply shortage is a major factor driving these price hikes, leading to pepper sacks being priced above GH¢3,000, according to JoyNews’ market research data.
