A security guard at a Total fuel station in Suhum, located in the Eastern region, has tragically lost his life after being shot by a group of armed robbers on Monday, October 30.
Five robbers, who were on foot, carried out the attack at approximately 6:43 p.m., taking advantage of rainy weather. They entered the fuel station’s store and confronted the security guard, Kwasi Agbeti, who was commonly known as “Killer.”
The assailants resorted to physically assaulting Agbeti with sticks, and when he attempted to seek refuge away from the store, they shot him at point-blank range.
Additionally, they shot the fuel station supervisor in his office and absconded with an undisclosed sum of money. The robbers also targeted a tanker driver who had just arrived to unload fuel, stealing his mobile phone and GH¢1000.
Kwasi Agbeti was rushed to the hospital in a customer’s vehicle but, unfortunately, succumbed to his injuries upon arrival. The supervisor is currently undergoing treatment at the Eastern Regional Hospital.
Notably, this marks the third robbery incident in the Suhum area within a span of two weeks. The police, along with personnel from the National Investigation Bureau, are at the scene to initiate an investigation into this criminal act.
