Rev. Obofour pleads with bereaved families to forgive Salifu Amoako over son’s accident

Founder and Leader of Anointed Palace Chapel, Reverend Kwaku Agyei Antwi, has issued a poignant call for forgiveness on behalf of Bishop Salifu Amoako regarding the recent tragedy involving the young girls who lost their lives in an accident in East Legon.

During a Sunday service held in his church auditorium, Rev. Obofour, as he is commonly known, urged the bereaved families to find it in their hearts to forgive the bishop’s son for his role in the incident.

He emphasized that Bishop Amoako is also enduring immense pain during this challenging time, similar to the grief experienced by the families mourning their loved ones. Rev. Obofour stressed that Salifu Amoako is fundamentally a good person who deserves compassion and understanding from the Ghanaian community.

“What has happened can befall anyone. He has rendered an apology to the bereaved families to be forgiven. He is a humble person and I am begging on his behalf to the family to forgive him. It is not easy to lose your child.

“I am on my knees begging for him. Forgive him because he is not a bad person. He knows the teachings of God and that what has happened to him is just trouble that has come his way. This is not the time for some pastors to rise and fight against him [Salifu Amoako]. Let us all Christians rise up and pray for him and his family,” he said.

Rev. Obofour emphasized that he remains impartial while advocating for Salifu Amoako and is not attempting to favor either side. He also shared that his son is a classmate of the girls who lost their lives in the tragic incident.

“My son attends the same school as the deceased girls. I’m not speaking to take sides; I speak neutrally, and I’m begging Ghanaians to have mercy on the man [Salifu]. Since he started his ministry, he has served God in truth, and so we plead that every pain and anger that has risen due to the case must be calmed.

“These past few days, Salifu Amoako has gone through a lot because he has been crying and is going through pain. Let us not persecute and backlash him because of what he has said or what has happened but rather look at all the years he has served God in truth,” he added.

Meanwhile, Bishop Salifu Amoako, General Overseer of Alive Chapel International Ministry, has come under intense backlash for comments that many Ghanaians have deemed insensitive.

Addressing his congregants on Sunday, October 20, 2024, Salifu Amoako stated in a video posted on X by CITI FM and seen by GhanaWeb, “It was an accident. My son did not carry a gun to go and kill somebody. My son involved himself in a terrible accident. I was not the one who did it. Neither his mother.

“It is because of my name; that is why the thing is going everywhere. If this car had hit an Okada, who is going to mention it? It is just because of my name. So let’s see what the Lord will do.”
