Republic Bank Ghana appoints new board member

Republic Bank Ghana, a subsidiary of Republic Financial Holdings Limited has announced the appointment of Mr. David Addo-Ashong as a member of the Board of Directors of the Bank.

His Confirmation came following the approval of his appointment by the Bank of Ghana and the Ghana Stock Exchange.

Mr. David Addo-Ashong is a Partner at Ashong Benjamin & Associates.

He previously served as a Partner at Ankamah and Associates and also a Deputy Managing Director at First Atlantic Merchant Bank Limited.

Over the years he has held several key positions at the Office of the Ombudsman, Merchant Bank (Ghana) Limited (now UMB) and Home Finance Company Limited (now Republic Bank Ghana).

Mr. Addo-Ashong is currently a Director at Afina Asset Management Limited, Econet Ghana Limited, AGM Petroleum Ghana Limited and Republic Investment Services Limited.

Mr. Addo-Ashong holds an LLB from the University of Ghana, Legon and BL from the Ghana Law School.

He is a Member of Ghana Bar Association, the Ghana Olympic Committee and President of the Ghana Basketball Association.

In related development, Ms. Kalawatee Bickramsingh, a staff of Republic Bank Limited, Trinidad and Tobago has been seconded to Ghana as the General Manager in charge of Risk Management.

Ms. Biskramsingh filled the role made vacant as the result of the elevation of Anthony Jordan as the Managing Director of the Bank last year.

Kalawatee has over 35 years experience in banking of which 15 years has been in Corporate Banking where she worked in various portfolios across a broad spectrum of industries.

Her exposure in Corporate Banking also included assisting in managing the Government & Energy Portfolio.

She was a member of the Credit Risk Management team at Republic Bank Trinidad for four years prior to her joining Republic Bank Ghana in March 2018.

During her tenure at Credit Risk Management, she facilitated several Credit Analysis Techniques program across the RFHL Group.

Kalawatee is a member of the Chartered Professional Accountants (CPA) of Nova Scotia Canada, and Institute of Chartered Accountants of Trinidad and Tobago (ICATT).

She also holds a Masters degree in Business Administration from the Heriot Watt University and a Diploma in Financial Management (ACCA).

She also holds a Diploma (Honours) in the Business Program for Bankers from the Institute of Canadian Bankers.
