Lucas Canizares, the goalkeeper for Real Madrid, has extended his contract with the LaLiga behemoths.
Canizares hasn’t taken the field for Madrid in a senior match yet, but he has been used as a substitute 10 times this year and was a member of the team that won the Club World Cup.
The 20-year-old, who is the prodigal son of former Madrid and Spain goalkeeper Santi Canizares, is ranked third in the hierarchy, behind Thibaut Courtois and Andriy Lunin.
He reportedly came close to leaving the team in January to pursue regular football, but he revealed on Monday that a new contract had been signed on his Instagram page.
“I’m very happy to expand my link with Real Madrid,” Canizares said. “Eager to return with work the trust deposited. Let’s go!”
