Ghanaian rap sensation, Amerado, known in private life as Derrick Sarfo Kantanka, recently revealed that his decision to pursue a degree was driven by a heartfelt desire to fulfil his late father’s dream.
In an exclusive interview with Mzbel on Movement TV, the ‘Kweku Ananse’ artist disclosed that going back to school was not only about seeking enlightenment but also about honouring his father’s wish to see him graduate.
“My father, of blessed memory, always wanted me to go to school to the highest levels, so I’m fulfilling his wish too,” Amerado shared.
Currently in his second year at the University of Ghana (Legon), where he is studying Political Science and Philosophy, Amerado emphasised the importance of connecting with a tertiary audience.
He believes that students constitute a vital part of his fan base, and by immersing himself in their academic community, he can deepen the bond and garner their support.
“I am in level 200 at Legon where I study Political Science and Philosophy. I went there because I needed a tertiary audience. Apart from that, I am someone who wants to be enlightened,” he explained.
Acknowledging the challenges of balancing education and a thriving music career, the award-winning rapper expressed gratitude for the support that has allowed him to navigate the complexities and gradually find equilibrium in both aspects of his life.
