Pray your party wins or you’ll suffer in silence – Maame Dokono tells creatives

Grace Omaboe, widely known as ‘Maame Dokono‘, has shared a cautionary tale about the challenges faced by artists who enter politics.

The renowned Ghanaian actress warned that if the political party an artist supports fails to win an election, they could face significant setbacks, including being sidelined in their professional field.

Maame Dokono recounted her own difficulties during an interview on GTV, explaining that after aligning herself with the New Patriotic Party (NPP), she struggled to find work for about two years.

Reflecting on her experience, she expressed regret about her deep involvement in politics, suggesting it had a detrimental impact on her career.

She also revealed that her political involvement led to the abrupt halt of her popular series ‘By the Fireside’.

According to Maame Dokono, her participation in a political event and subsequent endorsement of Nana Addo’s campaign caused friction with the former First Lady, who had been a key supporter of her show.

This led to the withdrawal of support and resources, ultimately ending the production of ‘By the Fireside’.
