A tragic event unfolded in Banda-Nkwanta, a community along the Bole-Bamboi highway in the Bole district of the Savannah Region, when a man believed to be mentally unstable took the lives of four individuals.

The incident began when the man, known as Daganaa, arrived at a galamsey site to unload items and requested to use the restroom at a local compound house on Monday, February 19, 2024.

When confronted by residents, he barricaded himself in a room, issuing threats to anyone who approached.

The escalating situation prompted residents to call the Bole police command for assistance. Upon their arrival, Daganaa attacked two police officers, leading them to respond with gunfire, resulting in his death.

Tragically, four individuals lost their lives in the incident.

The elderly grandmother, who is critically injured, is currently receiving treatment at Carpenter Hospital in Bole.

The deceased persons have been laid to rest in accordance with Islamic customs.
