Several Ghanaians who live within the jurisdiction of several high-tension poles mounted behind Fiesta Royal Hotel in Accra have witnessed a demolition of the structures they call home.
The affected persons noted that the exercise started within the wee hours of today.
Briefing the news team on what transpired, they averred that the area was evaded by security personnel and some other persons they believe were land guards without their notice around 3am Friday.
Those affected by the exercise include petty traders, mainly pure water sellers, tailors, bar operators, security personnel, among others.
The squatters further told the news team that some who were unable to secure their belongings had them destroyed by the excavators and security personnel who were at the site.
School children who were with their parents upon the arrival of the news team said they had no choice but to stay home to help pack what their families secured.
Some who called on government to come to their aid, requested for a temporal structure from the Akufo-Addo-led government to lay their heads at night whilst they look for permanent places to rent.
Others, however, threatened not to exercise their franchise in the upcoming general elections adding that they will not hesitate to vote out the Akufo-Addo government for not being there for Ghanaians as promised.
Explaining why they had taken such as a decision in an election year, most averred that the president and his appointees after being voted into power, render them homeless while they use taxpayer’s money to sponsor their lavish lifestyle.
