An X user, formerly on Twitter, with the user name HIGHLIFE lives ON@GyapKay has called for the inculcation of Ghanaian folk songs in our choral music as he gush over a video that emerged showcasing a group of talented individuals performing these local songs against the backdrop of vibrant Kente cloth.
In a tweet, @ GyapKay bemoaned how “choral music has been boxed into mostly religious settings,” however, highlighting how these vibrant melodies come to life, weaving a tapestry of sound that pays homage to Ghana’s cultural heritage.
He believes an adoption of these folk songs will offer glimpses into significant events, legends, or rituals that define the cultural identity of the community.
“But imagine having a show like this with folk songs and other compositions,” he mentioned in his tweet.
