Only copyright experts can manage GHAMRO affairs – Flowking Stone

Flowking Stone, the acclaimed artist behind the hit ‘Go Low,’ has called for the involvement of an international copyright expert to overhaul the management of the Ghana Music Rights Organization (GHAMRO).

Expressing his frustration, Flowking Stone noted that GHAMRO has struggled with effective royalty management, a concern he believes could be addressed by outsourcing to a global firm.

He suggested, “If there’s an international private company capable of managing GHAMRO’s operations, it might be beneficial to entrust them with the task. We’ve been voicing concerns about GHAMRO’s inefficiencies for a long time, and with many international copyright firms visiting our country, it might be time to let them take charge.”

He also highlighted the potential long-term consequences of GHAMRO’s current shortcomings, especially for musicians planning for their future.

“Musicians often face a lack of pension after retirement, and the small royalties that could support them in their later years are not being effectively collected. It makes sense to hand over this responsibility to those who have the expertise to manage it properly.”
