Okaikwei South Constituency ready for NPP primaries

Mr Moses Frempong Manso, the Constituency Chairman of Okaikwei South in the Greater Accra Region, has assured delegates of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) that the necessary arrangements have been made to ensure smooth electoral process come Saturday.

He said the needed logistics, finance among other things, was intact to allow for a smooth electoral process during the primaries.
Mr Frempong Manso revealed this in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) on Monday in Accra.

The Constituency, which has eight zones namely: Avenor, Awodome, Bubui, Bubuiashie, Kaneshie, Kaatsean, Goten, and Mukose has a total of 826 delegates expected to cast their vote.

According to the Chairman, voting would take place in all the eight zones to allow for social distancing, while observing the other measures to contain the spread of the COVID-19.

Voting is expected to begin at 7:00am on Saturday and end at 5:00pm.
“At the end of the voting process the ballots will be collated for counting and finally the winner would be announce,” he stated.

The Constituency Chairman urged delegates to continue to ensure peace before, during and after the voting process, to prevent any unfortunate event that could affect the Party in the general election.

The primaries, which was initially slated for April 25, 2020 was cancelled and rescheduled to June 20 due to the ban on social gatherings to contain the spread of virus.

It formed part of preparations towards the December 7, general election.
The Constituency has three aspirants, the incumbent Mr Ahmed Arthur, Mrs Dakoa Newman and Nana Fredua-Agyeman Ofori-Atta contesting for the parliamentary primary.

The winner of Saturday’s primaries would contest the National Democratic Congress aspirant for the parliamentary seat during the general election.

Okaikwei South shares boundaries with Okaikoi North to the North, Osu Klottey to the South, Ablekuma Central to the West and Ayawaso West to the East.
