In an effort to alleviate the government’s unemployment concerns, an aspiring parliamentary candidate for the Ayensuano New Patriotic Party (NPP) primaries, Ida Adwoa Asiedu, is spearheading the establishment of a cutting-edge tissue factory in Asuboi.
Once completed, this state-of-the-art factory will create direct employment opportunities for over 300 young individuals within the constituency and the wider Eastern Region. Furthermore, it is expected to generate thousands of additional indirect jobs for the youth.
Progress on the factory is currently at 70%, located in Asuboi along the main Accra-Kumasi highway.
The facility is set to manufacture a range of tissue products including toilet paper, face towels, and A-4 sheets.
In an interview, Ida Asiedu emphasized that addressing the challenge of unemployment in the constituency and the region at large has been a central concern.
She expressed her determination to contribute significantly towards reducing the prevailing high unemployment rates.
Ida Asiedu stated, “With just 30% left to complete, the tissue factory will substantially alleviate unemployment in our constituency. The factory’s establishment aims to directly employ more than 300 young people and indirectly benefit thousands, thereby tackling the unemployment crisis head-on.”
When questioned about her motivation for seeking the parliamentary seat, Madam Asiedu underscored her commitment to creating positive change and empowerment within the constituency.
She believes that political influence will allow her to make more substantial contributions to the region’s development.
Beyond her involvement in the tissue factory project, Ida Asiedu also disclosed her engagement in farming initiatives aimed at generating employment opportunities within the constituency. She shared, “I am involved in fish farming as well as poultry farming, both of which will provide employment opportunities for interested constituents.”
Discussing her contributions to infrastructure, Ida Adwoa Asiedu highlighted the lack of proper road infrastructure in the constituency, particularly in Coaltar, its capital.
She mentioned her efforts in grading kilometers of roads to enhance accessibility for residents and stressed the need for further development in this sector.
Addressing educational and healthcare needs, the businesswoman expressed her support for constituents by assisting with school fees and medical bills.
She pledged to establish educational funds to bolster educational pursuits within the constituency if she secures the parliamentary candidacy and subsequently wins the seat in the upcoming 2024 election.
As a contender in the NPP primaries, Ida Adwoa Asiedu distinguishes herself from competitors such as former MP Samuel Ayeh Paye and Deputy Minister for Tourism Mark Okraku-Mantey through her notable contributions to the constituency’s development.
She appeals to NPP delegates to vote for her, emphasizing her dedication to fostering progress and prosperity in the region.
