A new poll by Global Info Analytics suggests that Hassan Tampuli, the current Member of Parliament for Gushegu and Deputy Minister of Transport, could face a defeat in the upcoming 2024 Parliamentary elections.
According to the poll, Yussif Malimali of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is leading with 56.5% of the vote, while Tampuli is behind with 41.9%.
The survey highlights a significant shift, with 12% of voters who supported Tampuli in 2020 now backing Malimali. Additionally, 75% of new voters, including those who did not participate in the last election, are supporting Malimali.
Executive Director of Global Info Analytics, Mussa Dankwa, discussed the findings on Channel One TV’s Citiuation Room and suggested that Tampuli should focus on addressing his campaign’s weaknesses, such as understanding voter demographics and key issues.
Dankwa noted “In the questionnaire, we asked voters, ‘Who did you vote for in the last parliamentary election?’ So you have those who said Malimali, those who said Tampuli. Some said they didn’t vote and others said they would not disclose how they voted. So we looked at those who said they voted for Tampuli in 2020. We realised that twelve per cent of them had switched their votes for Malimali.”
“Among those who said they didn’t vote in the last election which includes older voters and first-time voters, largely, 75% of them are voting for the NDC candidate, which is Malimali.”
