National leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has decided to defer the parliamentary primary in the Akuapem South constituency.
This decision comes in response to a petition submitted by the Municipal Chief Executive for Akuapem South, Frank Aidoo.
Aidoo’s petition seeks permission to participate in the party’s parliamentary primary scheduled for Saturday, January 27, 2024. This request follows the withdrawal of the incumbent MP, O.B. Amoah, from the race.
Initially expressing his reluctance to seek a fourth term as MP for Akuapem South, O.B. Amoah later changed course and obtained nomination forms to contest for re-election.
In a statement, the NPP’s general secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, highlighted that the postponement aims to address the raised concerns and appealed for cooperation from party supporters.
