Former First Lady Mrs. Lordina Dramani Mahama has made a substantial impact on the informal economy by donating equipment to support hairdressers and dressmakers in Busunya, located in the Nkoranza North constituency of the Bono East region.

Through the Lordina Foundation, Mrs. Mahama facilitated the donation of one hundred twenty (120) sewing machines, one hundred (100) hair dryers, and related accessories. This initiative aims to assist recently graduated apprentices and skilled craftswomen who are mentoring young girls in the district.

During her address, Mrs. Mahama stressed the importance of professionalism, urging recipients to prioritize their careers and avoid procrastination in meeting customer deadlines.

She encouraged beneficiaries to uphold high standards of customer service, emphasizing its role in retaining current clients and attracting new ones.

As the wife of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, Mrs. Mahama reiterated her husband’s commitment to implementing a transformative Free Apprenticeship Programme. This initiative is designed to benefit both apprentices and their mentors, equipping them with essential tools and capital to establish sustainable businesses.

Mrs. Mahama highlighted the potential of the apprenticeship programme to secure a brighter future for artisans, underscoring its significance as a beacon of hope for the community.
