Reports suggest that Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) has accepted a substantial offer for Neymar from Al-Hilal, a team in the Saudi Pro League.
The Brazilian player has apparently expressed his desire to leave PSG this summer, although the French club might hold out for a minimum of €150 million (£130 million or $165 million).
According to Fabrizio Romano, renowned for transfer news, Al-Hilal made a sizable offer for the 31-year-old on Saturday, which has now been acknowledged by RMC Sport.
Despite ongoing advanced negotiations between Neymar’s representatives and the club, Neymar himself has not yet given his approval for the deal.
If Neymar departs PSG during this summer window, it would mark the conclusion of his six-year stint in Paris, where he has recorded 118 goals in 173 appearances.
This development coincides with a somewhat unsettled period for the Ligue 1 champions, as evidenced by Neymar, Kylian Mbappe, and Marco Verratti being excluded from the squad in the 0-0 draw against Lorient.
Interestingly, Al-Hilal had previously presented a €300 million (£259 million or $332 million) bid for Mbappe last month, which was declined as Mbappe displayed no interest in moving there.
PSG’s focus is on selling Mbappe this summer after he declined a contract extension.
Avoiding a free transfer next year is PSG’s goal, but if both Neymar and Mbappe depart, the team’s performance in Ligue 1 and the Champions League could potentially suffer.
Negotiations are ongoing, and it appears increasingly likely that Neymar will not participate in any more matches for PSG.
