The National Democratic Congress (NDC) is set to introduce a weights and measurements system to promote fairness for both consumers and sellers in Ghana.
Johnson Asiedu Nketia, the party’s Chairman, stated that this measure aims to ensure consumers get precise quantities of goods, while farmers and sellers receive equitable payment.
During a visit to Ayensuano in the Eastern Region, he noted that similar systems are successfully used in neighboring countries such as Côte d’Ivoire and Burkina Faso, where they help prevent fraud between farmers and traders.
If former President Mahama is elected in 2025, the plan includes providing weighing scales to markets nationwide to ensure accurate measurements and fair market prices.
Nketia clarified that this initiative is not about controlling prices but about ensuring fair trade practices.
Since Monday, Mr. Asiedu Nketia has been actively campaigning for the NDC in the Eastern region.
