The race to succeed Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh as the Member of Parliament for Manhyia South has commenced, following his confirmation as the running mate to Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for the 2024 presidential election.
On Thursday, July 4, the National Council of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) officially endorsed Dr. Opoku Prempeh, popularly known as ‘NAPO,’ as the running mate.
President Akufo-Addo expressed his enthusiasm for the ticket, describing Dr. Bawumia and Dr. Opoku Prempeh as an “excellent pairing.”
Following NAPO’s confirmation, posters of Nana Owusu Afriyie Prempeh, the Manhyia South Constituency Treasurer who doubles as Dr. Opoku Prempeh’s biological brother, have surfaced, signaling his interest in running for the seat.
According to reports, other potential candidates are also meeting with delegates privately.
